We love a challenge! The majority of our business is residential window replacement, but we also do patio doors and entry doors. When a customer contacted us with a special project in mind, we were happy to help. Specifically, he was looking to have aged patio doors converted to windows.

The home is set on a beautiful, scenic property and the homeowners wanted to maximize their enjoyment of the view. The home had two sets of patio doors, both in need of replacement. The homeowners wanted to replace one set with new doors, but to transform the other patio door with a large window combination.
The clients asked us to design a window combination that allowed for some venting but maximized the view of the gorgeous wooded lot outdoors.
After | 400 Series Picture/Awning Window Combination
Our Sales Consultant, Joe Bishop, proposed a picture unit combined with awning windows, all from the Andersen 400 Series line. Awning Windows are windows that are hinged at the top and open outward. Their design allows them to even stay vented in a light rain. A picture unit does what the name suggests — perfectly frames the view. Though they do not open, they are an ideal choice to span a large opening without breaking up the view. The 400 Series windows are wood windows, clad, or covered on the exterior in vinyl. The vinyl cladding protects the windows from the elements and makes the windows virtually maintenance free. On the interior, the home’s beauty is enhanced by the wood finish.
As you can see, the final product is the perfect blend of function and style. And that view! All that was left to do was to stain interior of the windows and the new trim installed by our crew’s trim carpenter. The custom trim blends the window combination seamlessly — as though it had always been there. The homeowner opted to take care of the staining of the interior himself, but that is a service we offer as well. You might wonder how long it took to pull off a conversion like this. While we will never rush a job, our capable crew accomplished this (and replaced the other set of patio doors) in a single day. We made sure they were prepared with the materials they needed, including interior and exterior trim, to get the job done.
